An early start this morning, as we had to be at the ferry terminal at 9.30. It was about an hour from where we lived, and the drive was quite beautiful through wide valleys soaring mountains, and the whole area looked very calm and peaceful.
We had a Premium ticket, allowed us to get on board first, and use the lounge. The ferry took off and you wouldn't even know that it moved.

Several RAF jets zoomed overhead, as the base is a little down the coast.
The crossing was just over 2 hours. I managed to find the duty free shop! Some great prices.
Then we were approaching Ireland.
Our hotel was on the other side, near Dublin Harbour, and we managed to pass Aviva Stadium on the way, home of Rugby at as it used to be called Landsdowne Road.
We arrived to an absolutely full carpark. Lots of well dressed and well heeled young ladies in mortar boards, as they graduated as dentistry assistants.

Must be the summer fashion |
And the hotel, is a bit overwhelming. It is as it says, built around the Clontarf Castle, and the additions have been done in a very sympathetic manner to the old.

Don't know who sat in this chair, one of a pair. |
Our Dublin adventure is our anniversary and Christmas and birthday present from our daughter Joanne, Craig and the three girls. Thank you, we will enjoy both the stay and our 3 course dinner tonight.
Tomorrow we are doing a hop on hop off bus tour, being picked up here at the hotel. At 11.30 we are meeting with the past Lord Mayor of Dublin Cr Andrew Montagu, who is going to show me the portraits of the Lord Mayors!
