A Wee drive through the Southern Uplands of Scotland to Glasgow Tuesday 10th June

The morning started out quite sunny, but  when we were due to leave the rain started.  We followed the scenic route, (planned) to Demfries.  I had always thought my Carson family caime from here, but not so, some more famous Scottish people lived in the area.  Robert Burns the poet for a start.
The River Dee looked quite black in the morning

Some breakfast companions

In Dumfries

Beautiful southern uplands

The town is quite large, but we spent an hour trying to get a new sim card for the tablet, and it turns out even the O2 one won't pick up the network.  Oh well, wifi for now!

Another very scenic drive through the Southern Uplands and into our accommodation first go, even though we are in a large estate of over 300 units which used to be tenement housing until 30 years ago.

I don't think that the city was this large last time we were here.  Don't quite know where we are at the present, just close to a railway station, and last night I cooked for the first time since we left home, and have to say that I was astonished at the prices at the Liddel shop.  Things were half what we would pay.

Great apartment, loads of washing done, repacking, throwing out and reorganising for our hopefully warm next couple of weeks.

It was lovely to meet my cousin for the first time.
We had a lovely time chatting, and the German wine was okay also!

So today our flight to Islay and it is sunny.
