Monday 14th April from Templin to Polish border and north

A rainy day today and cold. At 12.30 it was 6deg, it did get up to 10 for a few minutes.  I wore leggings under slacks, bamboo thermal,  my Aldi ski jacket and was warm.  We experienced a great deal today.
Then a bit higher!

At times we could have been on the set of a WW2 war movie, driving between huge old trees and thick forest surrounding the road.
We walked a little in family history, visiting Glasgow and Herzfelde,  home of some of John's great grandparents.

The fields are green, wind farms are everywhere along with sun farms.  We saw deserted concentration camps,
rows of communist style flats, and an enormous military base.  We took a few wrong turns with the GPS,  but eventually made it to the Polish border.

The area we are in is certainly on the regular tourist routes, trying to find a toilet is challenging,  bit like our Outback Tours behind the gum trees!

We found a shopping Centre and that was a good choice.  Onwards to Ueckermundie which has a canal leading to the lakes.  An undertaker appeared, took a coffin on board a boat, and the mourners arrived for the service. Maybe they were carrying out someone's last wishes.  It was black as, wind blew the umbrella inside out so we tried to find somewhere for lunch with you guessed it, restrooms!

The Market square

There are storks all along the canal fishing

The hotel brewed it's own beer, and they apologized for not having a menu in English.  So swine fillet another different way, mine with salad and an egg on top.  John's with capsicum, and more hot chocolate.

We drove a different way back, and he managed to wreck the rim of the front tyre.  Lucky it wasn't me driving or you would never hear the end of it.

Back home, and Stephie had washed and dried a few days clothes for us.
