Sunday 20th April another day in London

Woke to a very cloudy day.  Chance of showers so the weather reports said.  First step to test our phones, as we couldn't call my phone from John's phone (now he can operate a smart phone)!

His works, and I can phone him on the tablet, that shouldn't make calls, oh well, another communication puzzle.  Met our fellow guest, from Japan here to compete in the Irish Dancing Championships.  You may well ask.

I had done some washing the day before, and I cannot get my head around, hanging washing to dry in a room for two days, without ever seeing the sun or a dryer!

Into Trafalgar again, and change bus for the Tower Bridge Experience. But before we did that we ended up at St Clement's Church, from the old song, The bells of St Clement's and ring they did for ages.  Unfortunately I don't have sound on the photo.  It is actually the RAF Church.

There were no tourists around for a change

By the time we got to the Tower Bridge it was raining.  Firstly we visited a shop for a map, and for something special for Cloe, (no not a snugglebug Cloe), and a carry bag as mine broke yesterday, and you need one to keep the extra coats and umbrellas in, and this time the tablet, so we could work out where we were. (Didn't quite work like that)

I didn't think I would enjoy this, but it is well done, and very interesting and if it was not bucketing down with rain the views would be sensational.

A display of bridges around the world

A 60's Exhibition inside

Another bus, and this time to the British Museum, only the conductor thought we said London Museum.  So miles from the right spot, we walked from St Paul's Cathedral, which is incredible.

It was closed today so we walked and then found the Guildhall, and went inside to have a look at some pretty amazing paintings, with no crowds of tourists at all.

Armed with our map we found a bus that looked like it went to the British Museum.  Along the way we found The Old Bailey, we got off at the stop for the museum, and walked in the rain and found that all the tourists in London were lined up to go inside.  Then  I remembered they were having a Vikings Exhibition.
They had to be keen the lines snaked for 500 metres around and around all standing in the rain!

We figured we would stop at the Old Bailey, and met a guard at one of the building opposite where I stopped to take a photo.  He told us they still use the court, and that the recent Murdoch trials were held there.

 John retraced Robert Jillett's footsteps!

Opposite the Church of St George a magnificent building, or should I say another one, they are all spectacular.

We found a pub in Ludgate Circus and had lasagne and salmon for lunch.  Well priced.

Then hopped another bus to find where Westminster Abbey was and how to get there.  Really pouring with the gutters flooding onto the footpaths.  Lots of wet shoes in London tonight.  After a few trips and getting off at the wrong stop we got back to the Sim card man, who double checked for us, was surprised that the tablet could make calls, and then discovered that the wrong sim was put back into my  phone.

Hopefully all is good now.  Had some trouble with the internet connection here when writing yesterday's blog, so have finished this one on the laptop.

Happy Easter
